Abstract

Summary : the rhythms of cognitive efficiency. This paper reviews data showing that the performance in different tasks presents periodic variations. The periodicity of these performance rhythms can be long (infradian rhythms) or short (ultradian rhythms), the best known being the one of about 24 hours (circadian rhythms). On the other hand, it is shown that the large inter-individual variability in cognitive efficiency rhythms can be partially explained by typologie factors (intro-version-extraversion, morningness-eveningness, dependence-independance of the field). Key words : psychological rhythms, cognitive efficiency, typology.
