Abstract
The concept of mathematics as understood in the first year of secondary school by the different participants involved in education. - An inquiry was conducted among 1st form pupils, their teachers and their parents about the image of mathematics they develop through the comparison of these various participants perceptions ; the assessment provided by the teacher, especially by means of marking, appears to play an essential part in the making out of pupils concept.
