Abstract

From 1945 until today, there has been no scientific research done on the filed of Polish-Jewish municipality relationships during the German occupation, 1939-1945. This was caused from one side by the predominate opinion there was no relationships between Polish City Boards and so-called Judenrate, from the other hand by the almost totally destruction of Polish and Jewish municipality documentation from this period and lack of archival sources. At the beginning of the occupation, the Polish City Board of Warsaw supported all Jewish petitions to Germans authorities and made efforts by different ways to support the Jews. Therefore it was made only if the Polish interests where not threatened ; if he did, there was no will to bring any assistance. The extreme poverty of Poles forced the City Board to protect first of all the Polish interests. Therefore, after some time seeing that all his legal petitions are almost completely useless and that the Germans terror became more cruel, the Polish City Board desisted any action of supporting the Jews. This article is the first on this field and was written only as a part of elaboration of Polish-Jewish relation in Warsaw under German occupation. Further study should be done on this subject which could help uncover new aspects of the Holocaust and the role designed by German-Nazis for nations under their rule.
