Abstract
SUMMARY - The upper basin of the River Verdon is characterised by a low linear Fluviatil erosion and a moderate evolution of structural relief, in opposition to the basins of the Var and Bleone rivers. This fact had two essential consequences : — progressive reduction of the Verdon drainage area downstream St-André (successive captures by neighbouring basins), - the importance of glacial extension, partly due to high mean altitude of the upper basin. The main glacial periods (Hiss and Wiirm) affected the region ; both extension have been nearly equivalent. Vliirmian stages of recession are particulary characterised downstream Colmars. Upper side streams valleys are interesting for the study of the geomorphological evolution during late and post-glacial würm.
