Abstract

Abstract The study of Oligocene and lower Miocene formations in two borings in Landes (Arjuzanx and Tartas-Cellulose I) is based on the Miogypsinidae. The distribution of the different genera and species has permitted the distinction of five successive faunal groups. The stratigraphic position of these groups is determined on the basis of results from an earlier study of the Oligocene and Miocene of Aquitaine. Several specimens close to Miogypsinoides dehaartii (van der Vlerk) and Miogypsina borneensis (Tan Sin Hok), but different in certain respects, are described and illustrated.
