Abstract

The paper describes the situation of the Jewish communities in Lebanon and Syria on the eve of World War II. What did the Jews in these communities know about the situation of the Jews in Europe and how did they react to these events, according to the local Jewish media ? As was the case elsewhere, they were fairly well informed. More often than not, they were eager for information and ready to show their solidarity in what was frequently a difficult environment, particularly in Syria.
