Amorous Figuration, or The Confession of a Mask Philostrates' Eikones (Latin translation, 1521), in diptych with Pontus de Tyard's Fables (1556), express as mirror-images the insufficiencies of both the visual and the verbal, and of the conversions between them, while further relating through the seductive subtexts of impossible desires.
