Abstract
Aims: Describe epidemiological, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of uretero- vaginal fistula (UVF). Materials and Methods: Descriptive retrospective study of 5 patients supported for UVF in a hospital in Senegal from january 2008 to december 2012. The parameters studied were: age, etiology, consultation period, reasons for consultation, physical examination, additional tests, cure and treatment outcomes of the UVF. Results: Mean age of patients was 31, 4 ± 7, 9 years. UVF were the result of a gynecological or obstetric surgery. The average consultation time was 6 ± 3, 1 months. All patients had consulted for permanent leak, involuntary urine through the vagina with preservation of voiding need evolving since the last surgery. Physical examination was normal in all patients. The urine culture had put in evidence a urinary infection by Escherichia coli in a patient. Intravenous urography revealed stenosis of the pelvic ureter in all patients. Surgical treatment consisted of 4 ureteral reimplantation according bladder Leadbeter Politano and 1 ureteral resection followed by end-to-end anastomosis. The therapeutic results were satisfactory in all patients. Conclusion: UVF were noted in patients with a young age. The ureteral reimplantation according Leadbeter Politano has been a satisfactory cure UVF. Keys words: uretero- vaginal fistula, pelvic surgery, ureteral reimplantation
