Abstract

Since 1967, some Upper Cretaceous deposits have been discovered in the Grands Causses. In the course of our work, we have identified, analyzed and made maps of numerous previously unknown deposits in varied facies, stretching from the eastern Causse of Larzac to the Causse of Campestre. Bauxite, situated in contact with Tithonian limestone, is followed by sandy clay sediments. Then a thick layer of sandstone and marine fossil-rich limestone fossilized a differentiated palaeotopography. This is then partially exhumed, leaving some trace of the Cretaceous continental cover.
