Abstract

A new species of Leptographium, L. globosum, is proposed for a fungus collected from dead hardwood in Taiwan. It is characterized by brown, penicillately branched conidiophores, formed on rhizoids, and producing globose conidia. A hyalorhinocladiella-like synanamorph is present. This morphology and phylogenetic analyses based on ITS2-LSU rDNA and partial β-tubulin DNA sequences suggest that the new species cannot be assigned to any known Leptographium species.
