Abstract
Leprosy, caused by Mycobacterium leprae, is a chronic infectious disease that requires effective medications. Clofazimine, a riminophenazine dye, has unique properties and mechanisms of action, making it a promising therapeutic option. Objective: To investigate the effectiveness of clofazimine in the treatment of leprosy, analyzing its mechanisms of action. Methodology: The research was carried out using the descriptive-exploratory method, with searches carried out in the Virtual Health Library and Google Scholar databases. Development: The following topics were covered: disease, medications, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and mechanism of action. Conclusion: Leprosy is a chronic disease that can cause deformities and permanent damage if not treated early. Clofazimine has been a key component in the treatment of this disease for more than 50 years.
