Abstract
DGA/SPOTI (French Armament Procurement Agency) has ordered early 2004 to ASTRIUM the development of the SPIRALE Early Warning (EW) Space Demonstrator, whose main objective is to pave the way for a future operational EW System by in orbit validation of its key requirements. By providing the 2 SPIRALE satellites, ALCATEL ALENIA SPACE is a major contributor to this program. This paper aims at describing the SPIRALE Attitude and Orbit Control System (AOCS) design, especially the evolution with regards to the MYRIADE generic platform induced by the use of the Geostationary Transfer Orbit (GTO). Attitude control performances will be presented as well as the development and validation status.
