Abstract

The teaching of economics : specific difficulties in high schools of agriculture - The teaching of economics and social science in schools of agriculture comes up against specific difficulties, partly due to the necessarily limited place they occupy in the general teaching and due also to the fact that the students undertake these studies with no previous training. Specialisation in the third year also poses difficult problems because one must both complete insufficient bases and prepare students for their professional life. This teaching must, in most cases, remain general enough for the students to be able to adapt to various activities. Periods of practical training in firms or participation in a concrete research project will always form a valid initiation into the problems of professional life. This teaching must be constantly called in question in order to improve it. One condition necessary for success is a greater number of contacts with the employers of agricultural specialists orientated towards economics. In future one can expect the importance of post-graduate training courses to increase.
