Abstract

Length-weight relationships were determined for three fish species [Bregmaceros rarisquamosus Munro, 1950; Sardinella albella (Valenciennes, 1847) and Cynoglossus macrolepidotus (Bleeker, 1851)] inhabiting the coastal of Hainan, China. Fishes were collected using gillnets (mesh size 0.5 cm) and electrofishing from 2005 to December 2012. The b-values of the equations ranged between 2.57 for Bregmaceros rarisquamosus and 3.34 for Cynoglossus macrolepidotus and thus were just inside the acceptable range for this value. Further, for B. rarisquamosus a new TLmax was recorded.
