Abstract

A 42-year-old woman undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer developed neck swelling. Ultrasound examination revealed right internal jugular vein (IJV) thrombosis, and anticoagulation with apixaban was started. However, within 48 hours, pharyngitis, fever, pain, and hoarseness developed and the swelling progressed, causing respiratory distress.
