Abstract

This study examines the differences in leisure satisfaction of older adults based on gender, age, marital status, self-rated health, ability to drive, housing type, and whether a person is living alone. The instrument used is based on the short version of the Leisure Satisfaction Scale (Beard & Ragheb, 1980). The sample (N = 187) of this study were people over the age of 65 who participated in senior activity centers at four centers in central Illinois. Results indicated that age, whether an individual lives alone, and health status impact leisure satisfaction in older adults.
