Abstract

This paper reports the results from a survey of 889 individuals from Riga, other towns, and rural areas in Latvia. The results show expected variations in uses of leisure by age and gender. They also show that all such groups experienced constraints (which differed in detail from group to group). It is argued that some of the constraints could be overcome by a better leisure education, which could lead to the adoption of healthier lifestyles in all sections of Latvia's population.
