Abstract

We report a case of a 59-year-old woman who presented with left abdominal pain of one-month duration. The patient had a previous ultrasonography report which showed a hypoechoic retroperitoneal left para-aortic mass. A computerized tomography (CT) scan had now been requested. CT revealed a well-defined heterogeneously enhancing mass lesion with necrotic areas in the left para-aortic region, anterior to left psoas muscle which appeared to be encasing the ovarian artery. Patient then underwent surgery and histopathology and immunohistochemistry of the resected specimen established the diagnosis of leiomyosarcoma.
