Abstract

“Instructions For Military Vehicles Chauffeurs” released in 1919 must be entertaining for both – transport professionals willing to get acquainted with traffic regulations and linguists of the time and linguists analyzing the evolution of transportation terminology, as well as everyone interested in automobilism and the historical aspects of this period. The article discusses the transport terms, as well as other (mainly chemistry and physics) terms, colloquial words associated with car maintenance, traffic safety and likewise. Also, the article examines how the terms meet today’s vocabulary, word formation, morphology rules. A number of reviewed publication terms with time periods have been dropped. Now the quotation sources of terms in use are presented on literature list. Usage of grammatical cases, prepositions and postpositions is being analyzed. There is an authentic language of “Instructions for Military Vehicles Chauffeurs” introduced in the work. Volume of the publication is 59 p.
