Abstract

In fewer than 10 days, Indiana House Bill 1003 (2022) had crossed its first legislative chamber and was barreling toward the Indiana Senate. House Bill 1003, titled “Nursing Indiana Back to Health,” was marketed by supporting lawmakers and stakeholders as a comprehensive package to strengthen the nursing workforce in the state. The bill moved quickly through the legislative process and contained changes to both the licensure and education processes for nurses. As states look to each other for policy ideas and solutions in the present workforce-focused climate, the comprehensive bill, now law, is worth analyzing in depth.
