Abstract: the article analyzes controversial issues of legal qualification of compu‐ ter games. The relevance of the stated research topic and the impor‐ tance of an immediate search for ways to fill the legal vacuum created in connection with the active spread of computer games are emphasized. The authors investigate the potential of computer games for conducting various kinds of scientific, social and legal experiments in order to de‐ termine the possible consequences of the introduction of any social prac‐ tices and institutions. As a result of the analysis of the practices of using computer games, the authors proposed three main models of legal regu‐ lation of computer games, specific concepts and criteria under which the application of real law to virtual legal relations is permissible. In conclu‐ sion, the authors emphasize the importance of defining a unified ap‐ proach to the legal qualification of computer games in order to ensure uniform and effective law enforcement.
