Abstract

This paper discussed the design of 32 × 32 left-hand circularly polarized (LHCP) phased array antenna at Ku-band for satellite communications. In this paper, planar phased array antenna principle, single radiating element structure and analysis and simulation of antenna array are presented. The array is compact and the whole front-end of this array can be placed on the same multilayer printed circuit board (PCB). Thus, this array is easy to be carried by satellites. With 33.43dB maximum gain, good axial radio performance and scanning range from 0 to 60, the array provides superb performance for satellite communication systems.
