Abstract

The main clinical findings in twelve patients with left-ventricular endomyocardial fibrosis (E.M.F.) have been aggregated and form a unique syndrome of mitral incompetence. The syndrome is characterised by an early mitral systolic murmur, a third sound, and often an opening snap, ascribed to a mobile anterior cusp. Proof of the diagnosis of left-ventricular E.M.F. was obtained by cineangiography and at necropsy.
