Abstract

A female infant was born by normal vaginal delivery to unrelated Jewish parents of North African origin. There was no family history of congenital heart disease. The pregnancy was unremarkable. Apgar scores were 9 at one minute and 10 at five minutes. Birth weight was 3780 g. On examination aged 24 h she was pink and in no apparent distress. Peripheral pulses were normal. Auscultation of the heart revealed normal heart sounds with a short 2/6 mid-systolic murmur heard maximally at the left lower left sternal border. The heart was not hyperkinetic. The rest of the physical examination was unremarkable. The electrocardiogram (ECG) and chest roentgenogram were normal.
