Abstract
Contemporary bourgeois political economy is in a state of profound crisis. Values are being reappraised as a result of the intensification of the internal contradictions of the capitalist economy and the inadequacy of the traditional methods of state-monopoly regulation. This crisis is manifested in various forms. The contradictions between the two major schools of orthodox economics - the Keynesian and neo-Keynesian schools - have become much more pronounced. The greater differentiation of bourgeois political economy proper has been accompanied by criticism of the methodological postulates of orthodox theories and by the development of a large number of new directions i n it on this basis. The positions of institutionalism, together with its socioeconomic approach to the analysis of economic processes, and reformist trends have been strengthened; radical political economy uniting leftist economists of varying persuasions (many of whom partially share Marxist views) has been confirmed.
