Abstract

An extension of the Lee model in quantum field theory is presented which has some of the features of mesic atoms. The model has three fermions V, N/sub 1/, and N/sub 2/, and two bosons theta/sub 1/ and theta/sub 2/ which interact according to Varrow-right-leftN/sub ..cap alpha../+theta/sub ..cap alpha../, ..cap alpha.. = 1,2. There is also a pair interaction between an N/sub ..cap alpha../ and theta/sub ..cap alpha../ particle which can produce atomic bound states that are shifted and broadened by the interaction Varrow-right-leftN/sub ..cap alpha../+theta/sub ..cap alpha../, ..cap alpha.. = 1,2. The T-matrix for N/sub ..cap alpha../-theta/sub ..cap alpha../ scattering is obtained in closed form, and its bound state and decaying or resonant state poles are investigated.
