Abstract

This paper presents a comparison between a tubular fluorescent lamp connected to an electronic ballast and subsequently to an electromagnetic and a tubular lamp LED, through the prism of power quality. It is intended to show that the replacement of tubular fluorescent lamps of the LED may have large difference with respect to energy consumption, since the luminous efficiency of the LED tubular evaluated is about 23% higher compared to luminous efficiency of the fluorescent tubular lamp. However, there are some disadvantages associated with the use of these types of lamps for lighting of buildings, such as the generation of harmonic current that can compromise the proper operation of electrical equipment.
