Abstract

This paper presents the preliminary study to examine the lecturers' experience in the first implementation of blended learning using i-Learn in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Terengganu. This implementation was initiated by i-Learn Centre (i-LeC) in order to achieve its mission to enhance the quality of professionalism of UiTM staffs through e-learning. The study was carried out using paper based questionnaire which was provided by i-Learn Centre. The respondents in the study were consisting of 16 lecturers who had tutorial methodology in their subjects and had volunteered to be the participants for Blended Learning during July 2009 to November 2009 semester (14 weeks). The results reveal that the lecturers have positive attitudes towards the implementation of blended learning. Most of the lecturers were utilizing the i-Learn components more when joining blended learning and they also agreed that students' interactions were more active through e-tutorial. They also found that sharing of knowledge was more interesting using e-tutorial. However, there are lecturers who are still confused with the term ‘blended learning’ as there are few of them who could not see the suitability and the benefits in implementing blended learning in teaching and learning.
