Abstract

Life Strategies of Peasants and their Realisations at Csongrad between the Two World-Wars - The rise of the Hungarian peasantry into the middle-class, especially the peasantry of the Great Plain and that of Csongrad, was being realised in a very slow manner full of contradictions during the period of time between the second part of the 19th century and the middle of the 20th century. The basis for this rise included elementary and continuation schools and later higher elementary school as forms of general and professional knowledge, courses in farming, the exchange students of the Banat, the exchange lads going to Germany, and in some cases the completion of studies in a secondary school. The possible forms of this rise included learning professional-quality farming and craft, becoming a clerk, or obtaining a diploma.
