Abstract
If we want children to use different forms of writing competently, this will include letter writing, and so we need to plan relevant, meaningful activities to stimulate them. Interesting ways into letter writing can be found through favourite stories and imaginative and role play. Children need an audience for their writing, and this can be a real person or an imaginary character.
