Abstract

In one sense, seeing comes naturally. We enter the world equipped with eyes and the other components of the human visual apparatus, and we begin looking at things from the very moment of our birth. In other respects, however, seeing is something we must learn to do. For example, the images that focus on our retinas are upside down and backwards, and some neural “rewiring” is required for us to see things in their proper orientation.
