Abstract
ABSTRACT This three-lesson sequence, addressing the topic of slow geomorphological change caused by water movement, integrates a Web-based system called Goinquire into a series of activities aimed to help upper-elementary, diverse students improve their observation skills and content knowledge in geomorphology. During the inquiry-based lessons, students cooperatively formulated questions and read and wrote to improve their observation skills and their understanding of the processes of erosion, transportation, and deposition. At the end of the sequence, students who participated in the lessons were able to discuss how the slow movement of water transforms the landscape, describe some of the agents that affect the rate in which the land is eroded, and use appropriate vocabulary to discuss the topic.
