Abstract
Pop management books are selling by the truck‐load and top‐of‐the‐pops management authors are hailed as gurus. In this article, Patrick McGovern assesses managers' responses to one such book: Peter Scott‐Morgan's The Unwritten Rules of the Game. The responses were collected after “unwritten rules” appraisals had been conducted within the managers' organisations.
