Abstract

Final year B.Sc. students on the Environmental Studies course at Leicester Polytechnic are required to participate in a simulated planning enquiry, working either as proposers or opposers of a particular scheme. Both groups develop Environmental Impact Assessments with the aid of various models implemented on microcomputers. This paper discusses computing aspects of the exercise and comments on the use of microcomputers by non-computing specialists - in this case students.
