Abstract

This chapter focuses on unique nature as individual human beings, and how impacts on teaching and learning. Conversations with educationists tend to involve a lot of generic references to ‘learners’, and it’s a reasonable term. A common method of determining which processing styles are dominant within the reader is through learning style questionnaires like that of Honey and Mumford. There is an 80-item Honey and Mumford's learning style questionnaire that is instructive and fun to do. It is also worth considering that some types of learning will be achieved more effectively with some styles than others. Pragmatists are keen on trying out ideas, theories and techniques to see if they work in practice.
