Abstract

On the one hand, the widely reported recent successes of certain transgender student‐athletes in swimming events have been viewed as a reflection of their individual efforts as well as the inclusive practices in place at the school and conference levels as well as the NCAA. But on the other hand, the transgender student‐athletes’ participation has triggered a number of concerns about the relative level of fairness and competitive equity associated with their participation. In addition, some team members have expressed privacy‐related concerns about having to use the same locker rooms.
