Abstract

Lean and Green can be the guideline for future development. It is interesting to exploit the “lean allows green” paradigm, where the implementation of lean can give the opportunity improve green performances. An important tool for implement lean and green is Modeling and Simulation. Modeling and simulation have been used over the years in lean and green implementation. It noteworthy to analyze how simulation can help also in the “lean allows green”. A case study is considered. At first, the reason of the green innovation is discussed. Afterwards the simulation model is depicted, and the discussion of results demonstrate how Modeling and Simulation can be a valuable tool for implementing Lean and Green Policies. Thanks to the simulation model developed it is possible to test the viability of the lean and green solution by eliminating the VOC emissions (100% reduction) due to cores used in the process and reduce the lead time of cores, from their production to their use, from 1 week to 48 hours.
