Abstract
A leaky rectangular waveguide with novel composite slots cut into the broad wall, for use in generating a circular polarization wave along the waveguide, is proposed and investigated. A hybrid method involving a full-wave method for near-field computation and an integration approach for far-field computation is used to analyze the polarization properties of the leaky waveguide. Results show that the proposed leaky-wave structure can generate circular polarization radiation along the waveguide if the structural parameters of the composite slots are properly designed. The theoretical results on axial ratios are verified by the measurements.
