Abstract

The essential oil from aerial part of Eryngium foetidum L., cultivated in western Nepal was analyzed by GC, GC-MS and NMR experiments which led to characterization of 97.6% of the total oil constituents. (E)-2-Dodecenal (58.1%), dodecanal (10.7%), 2,3,6-trimethylbenzaldehyde (7.4%), (E)-2-tridecenal (6.7%) were the major constituents in the leaf oil forming 82.9% of the oil.
