Abstract

The main objective of this research was to compare and analyse the perceptions of male and female followers regarding the leadership styles of their best and worst bosses. More specifically, we focus on the similarities and differences in how male followers perceive male and female leaders, separately, and how female followers view male and female leaders. Using a sample of 194 managers/followers, we found that, with a few exceptions, there are no significant differences in perceptions of leadership styles, by gender. Implications of the results are discussed.
