Abstract

This chapter highlights the importance of team work. It explains that the leader should ensure that team members have clear roles and that obstructions to progress are removed. Thus, teams can offer an efficient way of utilising and maximising individual skills and talents to offer the best possible service to the public. Meanwhile, teams can be dysfunctional for a variety of reasons, which can ultimately lead to inter-team conflict or a loss of public support. The chapter explains how teams develop over time while the leader ensures positive outcomes which references forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning as stages of team development.
