Abstract

ISEE-890 Objective: To determine the lead concentration in soil samples of Vetagrande. Material and Methods: Eighty-nine soil samples were analyzed, using energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence, to measure the Pb concentrations; sampling sites were located mainly inside the town. Results: The concentration of lead in soil samples were from 8 to 7730 μg/g, 28.1% of soil samples have less than 400 μg/g, while 71.9% is above 400 μg/g which is the maximum level recommended by EPA for residential use of soil. Conclusions: More than 50% of the soil samples have lead concentration beyond the limit values defined by the US EPA recommendation, for the soil to be used for residential purposes.
