Abstract

Iatrogenic femoral artery pseudoaneurysm (IFAP) is a common complication of endovascular procedures in the femoral artery for therapeutic intervention. It is reported that the incidence of IFAP is 2% to 7.7% involving peripheral intervention because of the frequent use of anticoagulant therapy and use of larger sheaths. We use the ProGlide (Abbott Vascular, Santa Clara, Calif), a percutaneous suture device, at the pseudoaneurysm neck under fluoroscopy to seal the pseudoaneurysm sac. The study was retrospective and noncomparative. We analyzed 16 patients with IFAP, treating with ProGlide, from October 2016 to May 2018. The diameter of the pseudoaneurysm sac, operating time, complications, and blood loss were collected. All 16 patients were operated on with ProGlide. One case failed because of the short neck of the pseudoaneurysm. In 93.8% (15/16) of patients, the sac diameter was reduced. The average operating time was 27 minutes; the average blood loss was 14 mL. No major surgical complication was found. A percutaneous suture device can be used to treat pseudoaneurysm. It is a convenient, safe, and effective technique and can be recommended as a safe alternative method for pseudoaneurysm.
