Le « védisme », version païenne de l'idée russe

Abstract

" Vedism ", a pagan version of the Russian idea. " Vedism ", which some observers have been quick to compare to fascism, is a specific movement, rooted in Russian tradition, whose origins are to be sought as much in Russia as in Russian émigré culture. It assumed a (very relative) importance only when it was able to take root in Russia, where the first pagan movement was established in Moscow in the autumn of 1988. But it is in Saint Petersburg that the most active groups are situated (the Society of Magi, the Venedic Union, the Thesaurus spiritual union...) which draw within their sphere of influence certain " patriotic " organizations, publish reviews and other matter which contributes to the dissemination of Vedistic ideas within public opinion. The main task which the Vedists have set themselves is a renaissance of the old pagan culture, for example the popularization of Slav martial arts, and of folk médecine, the veneration of the gods of antiquity, faith in science and the forces of nature. In all, Vedistic ideas have much in common with the Aryan ideology of Western Europe. In their affirmation of Aryan ideals and the cultural values of the white race, the Russian Vedists proclaim the divine mission of the Russian people, the possessor of Aryan supremacy and the sole guardian of " authenticity ". The Russian Vedist movement is very diverse in its political stances, and in the doctrines which it purveys, but a constant feature which distinguishes all the groups who claim affiliation, directly or indirectly, is an aggravated nationalism.
