Le Targum Pseudo-Jonathan témoin de l’époque du Second Temple

Abstract

Some targums such as the Targum Pseudo-Jonathan (TgPJ) reflect practices or controversies of the Second Temple period. This observation is based on the presence of these same elements as written in the Book of Jubilees or the Temple Scroll. This chapter focuses on elements of the Second Temple period, to show that ancient traditions often draw on TgPJ. It compares the features of TgPJ with the Temple Scroll, the Damascus Document, and the Book of Jubilees. However, some of these traditions have themselves changed and includes the TgPJ at an advanced stage of their evolution. As such, the TgPJ is also the witness of this time as well as that preceded it. To highlight these features of TgPJ, the chapter focuses on a few aspects of the sacrificial practices and the figure of Moses. The original text of the chapter is in French.
