Abstract

In several of Ibsen’s work the symbolism of ascension is very important, especially for example in Brand, The Master Builder, When we Dead Awaken, but also in the poem On the Heights that is built around this motive. In this paper we will present the different aspects of this symbolism and show what they reveal of the personal myth of the Norwegian author.
