Abstract

Based on the analysis of various sources (French universities courses, bibliographic databases), a study of the teaching and scientific activities in plant systematic is realised for France. Lectures in botany (plant identification and systematic tools) still occurs in few universities, as well as in faculties of pharmacology, and in superior studies in agriculture (an horticulture particularly). Publications in English or French show an increase in number during eighties, as well as the number of French botanical journals. From this study it appears that the French systematic botany exists but is dispersed spatially and thematically. Thinking elements are provided regarding possible evolution for this science in France.
