Abstract

The study of the sacrificial material has clearly shown that, the sacrifice is basically a meal specially prepared for the divine host. The ritual is not simply a description of a technique. It is also a language. It highlights respective functions of different types of sacrifices and indicates as a matter of fact the distinctive features of Jewish sacrifice. Even if stories, prophetic oracles, wisdom or prayer writings do not constitute, obviously, the main sources for the study of sacrificial ritual, they do not allow to collect certain number of indications on sacrificial procedure. The main source for the study of sacrificial ritual is constituted by the priestly texts and, among them, essentially the data gathered by P, quite specially those found in on Lev.1-7. The intervention of P on sacrificial system seems particularly focused on the ritual. The original text of the chapter is in French. Keywords: Jewish sacrifice; priestly texts; sacrificial material; sacrificial procedure; sacrificial ritual; sacrificial system
