Abstract
"The myth of Hermaphrodite and Salmacis, narrated by the Latin poet Ovid, is an important myth in the imaginaries that underlie the feminine/masculine dyad. We will see how th effusion of the masculine and the feminine is an unthinkable phantasm for the Romans, because it leads to the failure of the masculine. The narration omits the fate of the feminine. The myth reinforces the traditional patriarchal ideology that makes masculine the norm and denigrates feminine."
