Abstract

The data related to female art patronage in early medieval Georgia mainly illustrates the history of cultural and religious practices of the elites and shows that the female aristocrats were frequently involved in the acts of donation and actively participated in all forms of cultural intervention. The contribution of women patrons in the arts is significant and their role is not limited to a simple idealistic symbol (mother, wife, daughter). The woman in her position of patron of good deeds and charitable acts is fully associated with the political and religious administration of Georgian society.
